May is National Foster Care Month

The immeasurable and ongoing gifts of time and caring given by foster families in El Paso County are greatly appreciated and deserve public thanks.

Here are some thoughts from those who work with foster families and foster children.

Many different entities are part of foster care. This month is an opportunity to acknowledge foster parents, family members, volunteers, mentors, policymakers, child welfare professionals, and other members of the community who help children and youth in foster care find permanent homes and connections. The Department of Human Services is one agency of many dedicated entities, non-profits and individuals working together to protect children and strengthen families.
